2015 New Year Plan - and some promises. :)

I always start with a New Year resolutions post, compulsive list-maker that I am - here's my resolution post from 2014, and my post about my achievements!

So: what are my aims for 2015?

Well. I announced that I'm self publishing (woohoo! :D), so I have a lot more flexibility and freedom with projects this year!

Publishing goals
  • Self-publish at least three titles. I'm planning on publishing Adamant (Alliance #1) in March; Nemesis (Alliance, #2) in June; and Delinquent: An Alliance Novella and Collision (Alliance, #3) later in 2015. (Did I mention I'm an obsessive list-maker? :P)
  • The first book will be up for pre-order on Amazon from the end of January/beginning of February (depending on when I get it back from the proofreader), and when Adamant is released, it'll have a pre-order button in the back for the second book!
  • Demon Heart (Darkworld, #3) will also be out this year, but I don't yet have a confirmed release date from my publishers. (Yes, that does mean I'll have at least FIVE books out this year. o.O)
Writing goals
  • Draft at least 3 books - I know I can do more, but this year's going to be an insanely busy one, in a good way! Once I've finished the Alliance series, I'll be able to choose between revisiting an old project and starting something new.
  • Fully edit at least 3 books - two of those will be Nemesis and Collision, and I might just revive an old project...
  • Be flexible, and listen to the shiny new ideas! (After all, if I hadn't done that last summer, the Alliance series might not have happened!)
  • Write what I love. Be crazy about it, be madly, passionately in love with my own story. Make magic happen.
Other goals
  • Read 300 books - aiming high!
  • Travel!
  • Go on a writing retreat - I have one planned for April, in Edinburgh! :)
  • Actually get a tattoo this time!
  • Kick fear, self-doubt and adversity in the face.

The first half of 2014 was a struggle because there were so many things that were out of my control. If I hadn't decided to self-publish, then the same would have continued throughout the rest of the year. As every author knows, publishing is unpredictable. Most things are beyond the author's control, and that can sometimes be frustrating both for the author and their readers. But as I'm self-publishing, I want to make some promises to my readers - that, bar the zombie apocalypse, I'm intending to keep! I owe everything to you lovely readers, because without you, I'd still be a daydreamer with an undying ambition to share my stories with the world. Now, my dreams are a reality! :)

So, I promise:
  • I will release books in the Alliance series every 3-6 months. (Check the "Books" tab for the current projected plan!)
  • I will keep in contact with my lovely street team, who will be the first to hear my news and have access to exclusive giveaways!
  • I will send out monthly newsletters, and my subscribers will have early sneak peeks at my new book covers, blurbs, and teasers.
  • All Alliance books will be available to pre-order on Amazon at least a month before publication.
  • If I announce that I'm self-publishing a book, it's because it's on my plan - and is definitely happening!

  1. So on board with this! - "Write what I love. Be crazy about it, be madly, passionately in love with my own story. Make magic happen." :)

And I keep waffling on the tattoo thing, too. :)

  2. Sounds like a busy but amazing year. Best of luck!

I promised myself that I could get a tattoo when I graduated from college, but now that's five months away and I'm not so sure.

  3. "Write what I love. Be crazy about it, be madly, passionately in love with my own story. Make magic happen." That is a brilliant way to think of it. Definitely advice I'll be taking with me ^_^
