What I'm reading
I read Three Parts Dead by Max Gladstone, an inventive steampunk-esque fantasy novel with some seriously original worldbuilding!
I also read Sin by Sharron Riddle, a fantastic YA urban fantasy with a great magic and mythology system - highly recommended!
And I read Dead New World by Ryan Hill, an action-packed post-apocalyptic YA novel with zombies, and Heirs of War, a fantastic high fantasy by Mara Valderann which I was lucky enough to win in a giveaway.
What I'm writing
I'm still NaNo-ing away with Shiny Book 3! I also finished the last beta revisions on the first book.
And I FINALLY finished Darkworld 3 edits and sent them back to my editor!
What works for me
Last week I talked about how I get inspired by reading books in the same genre as I'm writing. Well, part of that involves pulling apart what I read to see what makes it work. I'm an English Literature graduate, so it goes with the territory. :P
And if I read a book I truly love, then I'll analyse it to figure out why. By keeping an eye out for the things that appeal to me as a reader, I'm looking at how I can write books that have the same effect. (I hope, anyway!)
What else I've been up to
On Sunday, I met up with Cole and Sophie in London for book shopping and coffee and writer-talk! ^_^
Other than that, I've been preparing for my upcoming release! Only five days until Fear's Touch: A Darkworld Novella hits the virtual shelves! *eek!*
